Newswise — DEERFIELD, IL (November 29, 2011) - The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology presented 19 awards in 14 categories earlier this month at their annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. From student articles to digital modeling, the awards recognize an array of important contributions to the field of vertebrate paleontology.
The Society’s highest honor, the A.S. Romer – G.G. Simpson Medal, was given to Alfred W. (Fuzz) Crompton for his sustained and outstanding scholarly excellence in the discipline of vertebrate paleontology. Crompton is the Fisher Professor of National History Emeritus at Harvard University where he researches the neuromuscular control of all aspects of feeding in a wide variety of vertebrates. In addition, the following awards were presented for 2011:
