Newswise — The proposal by two U.S. military chiefs that women should be required to sign up for the draft has caused strong reactions on both sides of the debate, but one argument from a Texas A&M University professor may be unlike any other. Valerie Hudson, a professor of political science at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, who has long studied issues of gender in politics and international affairs, says women are already laying down their lives and fortunes, more so than men, in service to their countries, by providing the next generation of citizens.
