Newswise — EVANSTON, IL (October 14, 2014) — The Family Institute at Northwestern University, an organization committed to strengthening and healing families from all walks of life through clinical service, education and research, announces the appointment of a new President, Jana L. Jones.

Ms. Jones’ appointment, effective September 1, 2014, is a result of the tremendous growth and future potential of the Institute. The Family Institute is renowned for both its practice and its thinking and has reached the point where it requires a joint leadership team of a business leader paired with an academic clinical leader. William Pinsof, PhD, who has been leading the Institute since 1986, remains as the Chief Executive Officer. Jana, as President, is responsible for all organizational and business aspects of the Institute. Together, Bill and Jana embody an ideal academic, clinical and business leadership team.

“Jana is a leader who arrives at a moment when the Institute is strong financially and programmatically, and poised for extraordinary growth,” says Dr. Pinsof. “I look forward to working with her in the coming years.”

Jana brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial healthcare leadership along with a passion for the mission of the Institute. She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State and a Master’s degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago. From Rush she went to Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield in Rochester, New York, where, over the course of 14 years, she became a senior executive responsible for both growing the business and improving the health of the members they served. She then moved to Tennessee and subsequently Florida, where she created and was CEO of two health care companies dedicated to using information technology to improve health outcomes and to increase patients’ engagement in their own health care.

“Working to improve the health of others has always been my passion,” says Ms. Jones. “I am enthusiastic to now focus my talent and energy on strengthening and building a mission-driven organization like The Family Institute.”

Ms. Jones splits her time between The Family Institute’s Evanston and Downtown Chicago locations. To contact Ms. Jones for an interview, please contact Cyndi Schu, Director of Public Relations at The Family Institute, at [email protected] or 312-609-5300 ext. 483.
