Newswise — PHILADELPHIA – (Dec. 22, 2014) – The Wistar Institute is pleased to announce the promotion of Elyse Hoffmann to Director of Donor Relations and Special Events, an elevated position with a key leadership role in shaping the organization’s development strategy and special events impact. She previously served as Manager of Events and Donor Marketing.

In her new role, Hoffmann will lead the implementation of Wistar’s donor outreach and special events strategy. By integrating special events with clear and consistent marketing guidance, she will build Wistar’s brand and energize donors. Since joining the organization in 2009, she has been responsible for managing two of the highest grossing fundraising events in Wistar history–the annual Albert R. Taxin Golf & Bridge Classic and the grand opening gala for the Robert and Penny Fox Tower. She has also worked to cultivate relationships with major Philadelphia institutions, such as the Phillies, IBC and Citizens Bank; has established an online giving and communications plan to retain a regular pool of donors; and has overseen the impressive growth of Wistar’s social media presence.

“Elyse’s in-depth knowledge and industry experience, combined with her significant contributions, are invaluable to Wistar and our cadre of supporters. Her innovative vision and creative approach will continue to enhance the strategic growth and direction of the Institute,” said Russel E. Kaufman, M.D., Wistar president and CEO.

Hoffman’s 15 years of industry experience in events, marketing and development dovetail well with the stewardship needs at Wistar, an international leader in basic biomedical research that provides a collaborative, team science environment for researchers at the forefront of cancer research, genetics and vaccine development.

“This is an incredible time to be at The Wistar Institute. With the newly opened Robert and Penny Fox Tower, the Institute is on a trajectory of growth and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it,” said Hoffmann. “I look forward to enhancing our current donor interactions as well as developing new friends and supporters for Wistar. We have remarkable scientists working together to pursue discoveries that will ultimately save lives and I am pleased to help them reach their goals.”

Hoffman is a graduate of Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
