Newswise — The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society launched the countdown to the TMS 2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibition with a call for abstract submissions on seven technical themes.
The 139th installment of the annual global conference and premier professional event will be held February 14"18, 2010 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.
Abstracts will be accepted through July 15 via the TMS ProgramMaster link located on the home page of the TMS 2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibition Web site. The abstract submission home page features all 56 symposia complete with detailed descriptions.
The technical themes selected by the TMS Programming Committee for the TMS 2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibition are as follows:
"¢ Advanced Characterization and Modeling"¢ Aluminum and Magnesium"¢ Electronic Materials"¢ High-Performance Structural Materials"¢ Materials and Society"¢ Materials Processing and Production"¢ Nanoscale and Amorphous Materials The accomplishments of two longtime TMS members and distinguished professors will be recognized with honorary symposia at the TMS 2010 Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
The Vasek Vitek Symposium on Crystal Defects, Computational Materials and Applications will honor Vaclav "Vasek" Vitek, a professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and the Jim Evans Honorary Symposium will honor Jim Evans, Professor of Metallurgy Emeritus and the P. Malozemoff Professor Emeritus in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California--Berkeley.
