Newswise — February 24, 2016—Warrendale, PA (USA): The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) honored the following 25 recipients of the 2016 TMS Young Leader Professional Development Awards during the 145th TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held February 14–18, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

These awards recognize early-career individuals, under the age of 40, for their potential as future leaders within TMS and the materials and engineering community it serves, as well as for their contributions within each of the society’s five technical divisions. Awardees are presented with unique opportunities to become more involved in society activities and to network with prominent TMS members through an invitation to attend the TMS Board of Directors and Division Council meetings at the annual meeting. Additionally, awardees receive complimentary 2016 TMS membership and sponsorship for their attendance at the annual meeting.

TMS also collaborates with the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (JIM) and the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) on a joint Young Leaders International Scholar Program to establish an exchange program that offers select young members the opportunity to present papers at international sessions.
