Newswise — BOSTON—U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals guide has ranked Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center the top cancer center in New England and fifth overall in the country. This past May U.S. News & World Report ranked Dana-Farber/Children’s Hospital Cancer Center second among all pediatric cancer hospitals in the country and first in New England.
U.S. News & World Report publishes the hospital guide each year as a reference for patients who are reviewing their medical care options. RTI International, Research Triangle Park, NC, generated the 2012-13 rankings based on data provided on 4,793 hospitals in the U.S. The guide ranks medical facilities in cancer and 15 other specialties. The overall score is based on professional reputation, mortality rates, patient safety, and a grouping of care-related factors such as nursing and patient services.
