Dr. Hutchinson is Professor of Orthopaedics and Head of the Sports Medicine Services at the University of Illinois College of Medicine , and serves as the head physician for UIC's team athletes.

He has been a team physician for the WNBA Chicago Sky, USA gymnastics, USA Field Hockey, USA Basketball, and Team USA at the two World University Games and the Paralympics Games. Dr. Hutchinson is expert on the stresses, injuries, prevention, and other health tolls associated with playing a broad range of sports from ice hockey to cheerleading. He has written and presented nationally and internationally on injuries of the knee, leg, elbow, ankle, shoulder and special concerns of the female athlete. In addition to assessing and treating injuries and strains sustained by UIC athletes, he sees patients from the Chicagoland area with sports and exercise injuries. He can speak on sports injuries in women and youth sports, as well as on on injuries related to tennis, gymnastics, basketball, golf, hockey, football, baseball, cheerleading, dance and soccer.
