Recent allegations of bullying in the National Football League proves that adults also can be victims of bullying.

Victims of chronic bullying can experience loss of self-esteem, feelings of isolation, depression, and increased risk of suicide attempts.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has two faculty experts who engage in research related to bullying.

•Professor Chris Elledge, Department of Psychology, is an expert on child and adolescent bullying. He also can speak to the definition of bullying, and how bullying can be perpetuated, even tacitly supported, by social and cultural factors within a system including a school, organization or business. •Professor David Dupper, College of Social Work, is an expert on bullying, particularly in school settings. He also can provide a broad perspective such as the impact of the school culture on bullying incidents, and often-disregarded forms of bullying including religious bullying and bullying by teachers and other adults in schools.
