Newswise — University of the Sciences and Cheyney University of Pennsylvania have formalized an articulation agreement that paves the way for qualified Cheyney undergraduates to seamlessly enter advanced degree programs at USciences. The two schools will officially sign the agreement at a ceremony on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at 3 p.m. at USciences (Wilson Hall, second floor).

Articulation agreements in general set forth the principles of mutual understanding to facilitate the progression of students between two institutions. This partnership offers students a broad range of educational opportunities. Ultimately, the agreement provides a clear path for students to continue their education.

“This is the definitive collaboration between universities that provides efficient pathways from one institution into another. It enables qualified students to secure advanced degrees in dynamic and innovative healthcare fields,” said Dr. Helen Giles-Gee, president of University of the Sciences. “The student is the ultimate benefactor.”

Under terms of the agreement, students earning a baccalaureate or higher degree from Cheyney in one of four programs are eligible for acceptance into one of three USciences graduate programs. Students will need to submit an application and meet pre-approved criteria and academic requirements.

“I am very pleased with the agreement with University of the Sciences,” said Dr. Michelle Howard-Vital, president of Cheyney University. “It is good that President Helen Giles-Gee remembers her colleagues at Cheyney University. We remember her excellent work as department chair in biology at Cheyney University. We look forward to expanding opportunities for our students.”
