Celgene Corporation Receives the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Corporate Leadership Award

At their annual awards dinner on June 13, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation presented Celgene Corporation with their Corporate Leadership Award. The event raised more than $450,000 for research.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation recognized Celgene for its dedication in the fight against multiple myeloma, and individuals who have helped raise awareness of the disease.

"We are honored to receive this award from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation," said John W. Jackson, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Celgene Corporation. "Our company is committed to advancing the treatment for a variety of cancers, including multiple myeloma and renal cell carcinoma. We share and support the mission of MMRF, and hope that one day there will be a cure for this devastating disease."

Event honorees included former New York State Senator Geraldine Ferraro, who was presented with the Public Awareness Award. The event was hosted by New York Yankees pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre and his wife Jean. The Yankee great was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Yankee Roger Clemens. Both Ms. Ferrarro and Mr. Stottlemyre are survivors of multiple myeloma.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is driven by a single purpose: To accelerate the search for a cure for multiple myeloma.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, formed in 1998. The mission of the Foundation is to fund cancer research for multiple myeloma, to improve patient outcomes, and to find a cure for the disease. In addition to organizing and funding worldwide symposia and educational programs, the MMRF has awarded $11 million in grants to investigators to support early research in the field.
