Newswise — On Feb. 14, 1929, seven members of the Bugs Moran gang were gunned down by members of Al Capone's gang in what became known as the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

John Binder, a Chicago mob history expert, can separate the facts from the myths about the event. He was historical consultant on A&E's Biography segment "Al Capone," the History Channel's two-hour special "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre," and a minor consultant on the movie "The Road to Perdition." Binder is a finance professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and author of "The Chicago Outfit," a historical and pictorial history of organized crime in Chicago.
