Tell Your Boss What You Honestly Think
Newswise — The job performance of most workers is evaluated annually, but a recent management trend is giving employees the chance to evaluate their managers. These types of evaluations are typically anonymous and ask for ratings in areas such as how managers react to stressful situations and their management style. The evaluations are supposed to be a constructive benchmarking tool, but do they work? Sometimes, says UAB management professor George Munchus, Ph.D., if employees are honest and managers are willing to act on the feedback. “Such evaluations can be good benchmarking tools as long as both the employee and the manager trust each other. If there is no trust, no evaluation tool will deliver the sort of results they are looking for regarding management style.”
