Newswise — The John Templeton Foundation handed out its Power of Purpose Essay Competition awards last month to 19 winners. Science & Theology News (Nov. 2004) features interviews with the winners, whose essays answered the question, “What is purpose?” through stories of a monastic retreat, a veteran-turned-photographer, the legacy of a historical scientist, a 74-year-old poet and a group of Cold War victims, among others.
