Manufacturers Claim FDA Delaying Action on New Sunscreens

Newswise — Sunscreen ingredient suppliers claim that the Food and Drug Administration is dragging its feet on approving new ingredients for sunscreens and delaying implementation of a revised rating system for measuring sun protection that could help consumers get a better idea of how effective a sunscreen is at protecting against skin cancer and wrinkles, according to an article in the April 11 issue of Chemical and Engineering News. C&EN is the weekly news magazine of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society.
