Newswise — The Clean Energy Summit program will include two panel discussions — “What Could a Clean Energy Future Look Like in Upstate New York?” and “What is the State of Clean Energy Research?” — and a closing keynote address by Maurice Hinchey, U.S. Representative for the 22nd District of New York.

Among the topics covered will be the financial impacts of clean energy, opportunities for industry/educational partnerships, examples of successful research commercialization and the skills/knowledge/educational background needed for a “green collar” career.

The sessions will be moderated by Mary Ellen Zuckerman, dean of the Ithaca College School of Business; and Beth Ellen Clark Joseph, associate professor of physics and coauthor of the Ithaca College Climate Action Plan.

There will be exhibits and demonstrations by clean energy technology companies and local nonprofit organizations. Optional post-event tours will be offered of some of Ithaca College’s clean energy faculty laboratories as well as two campus facilities built to platinum-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications: the Dorothy D. and Roy H. Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise and the Peggy Ryan Williams Center.
