Newswise — Three Gottlieb Memorial Hospital physicians have been selected as the region’s “medical MVPs” by Chicago Magazine in their “Best Sports Medicine Doctors in Chicago and the Suburbs.”

Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a health-care research and information company, compiled the list after surveying physicians and medical leadership of top hospitals to identify “highly skilled, exceptional doctors.”

Physicians at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, part of Loyola University Health System, who are on the list of Best Sports Medicine Doctors in Chicago and the Suburbs include:

• William J. Hopkinson, MD, vice chairman, Joint Reconstruction and Replacement at Loyola University Health System; program director, orthopaedic surgery residency program

• Jeffrey S. Meisles, MD, attending orthopaedic surgeon; past chairman, surgery at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital

• Pietro Tonino, MD, chief, Division of Sports Medicine, Loyola University Health System; team physician, Loyola University and Lewis University

All three Gottlieb physicians are fellows of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

“Gottlieb strives for excellence in patient care and is honored to have these orthopaedic surgeons recognized for their skill and leadership,” said Trisha Cassidy, president, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. “That the distinction is bestowed by their Chicago medical colleagues is particularly rewarding.”
