In light of National Entrepreneurs Day tomorrow, Michael Serino, executive director of Human Capital Development at Cornell University’s ILR School, says interest in entrepreneurship by people under the age of 30 is helping drive increased employment in the private sector domestically and internationally.

Serino says:

“The founders of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – young people see them as the rock stars of their generation. As the job market becomes more crowded, you’re seeing more ambitious graduates saying, ‘If I can’t find a job, I’ll make a job.’

“Globally, we’ve seen increasing interest in entrepreneurship as a way to create jobs. Consider a country like Kuwait, where interest in startups and new business ventures has been on the rise, especially with 20- and 30-somethings.

“Entrepreneurial growth in support of a healthy, sustainable economy for the long term is stimulating job creation around the world.”
