Newswise — University of Louisville School of Public Health & Information Science professor Susmita Datta, Ph.D., has been elected to a three-year term on the advisory board of the International Biometric Society (Eastern North American Region), an international society for the advancement of biological science through the development of quantitative theories and the application, development and dissemination of mathematical and statistical techniques.

As a board member, she will contribute to policy decisions, give input on appointments and activities, and represent the international community in various biometric society activities.

“This is a prestigious position,” said Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Chair K.B. Kulasekera, Ph.D. “We are proud of Susmita as she joins other board members from institutions such as Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson, Columbia and University of Pennsylvania to influence our profession.”

Journals of the International Biometric Society include: Biometrics; Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics; Biometric Bulletin.

Its membership consists of biologists, mathematicians, statisticians, and those interested in applying similar techniques.
