Newswise — More than 200 technology gurus working in higher academia across the tri-state region will gather at University of the Sciences for the Northeast eLearning Consortium Fall 2013 UnConference. This event is slated for Monday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, in the University’s McNeil Science and Technology Center, located at 45th Street at Woodland Avenue.

“An unconference is a participant-driven and loosely structured meeting which emphasizes the casual exchange of information and ideas between participants,” said Rodney Murray, PhD, executive director of the Office of Academic Technology at USciences. “It will provide an excellent opportunity for attendees to work together with peers and share best practices and innovations on the use of technology to facilitate teaching and learning.”

This conference is targeted at faculty, instructional technologists, and other employees who work in higher education institutions and either use and/or support the use of technology in teaching and learning.

This year’s conference will boast registrants from 13 states and 81 institutions, including Arcadia University, Berkeley College, Drexel University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Haverford College, La Salle University, Penn State University, Philadelphia University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Saint Joseph’s University, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, West Chester University, and dozens more.

This event, a stop on Blackboard’s “Never Stop Learning Tour,” will also provide in-person access to Blackboard representatives to help address any questions or concerns attendees might have. Blackboard provides users with a set of tools that allows the academic community to take the education experience mobile by reaching its audience with important information anytime, anywhere. Such tools include posting grades electronically, sending electronic alerts, screening students' papers for plagiarism, and giving electronic exams.

The University is easily accessed via public transportation, and visitor parking is also available to attendees. For more information regarding this event, or to register, visit www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?EventID=1270016.
