Newswise — The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, (CMS), recently announced that the Open Payments registration and data submission for the Physician Payments Sunshine Act will now involve a two-phased reporting approach. The compliance dates for Phase I (February 18 through March 31) requires user registration in CMS’ Enterprise Portal (the gateway to CMS’ Enterprise Identity Management system (EIDM)), submission of corporate profile information and aggregate 2013 payment data. Phase 2 begins in May and extends no fewer than 30 days and requires industry registration in the Open Payments system, submission of detailed 2013 payment data and legal attestation to the accuracy of the data.

To help clients respond quickly to these changes, MMIS, Inc., is hosting The MediSpend® “Lunch and Learn” Webinar Series. The series, held from March 13 – March 18, 2014, will answer questions, clarify issues, and provide solutions designed to help MediSpend® clients meet the new deadlines. Presentations will be piloted by industry experts and will cover compliance best practices such as managing HCP relationships and using data analytics to manage compliance and mitigate risk.

The only service provider to offer a webinar series, MMIS has scheduled this at an opportune time. Many life science companies required to report to CMS have found the Federal Agency’s announcement confusing. In fact, 76% of attendees from the first webinar presentation, hosted on March 13, 2014, found the Phase I registration process to be complicated and difficult to follow.

With little guidance offered by CMS, and wavering deadlines confusing the thousands of companies required to report, (the first deadline was originally set for March 31, 2014), The MediSpend® “Lunch and Learn” Webinar Series offers MediSpend® customers real expertise, guidance, and support in meeting the new Federal requirements.
