Autism Awareness month coincides this year with Occupational Therapy month this year. Thomas Jefferson University’s Roseanne Schaaf is an international expert in occupational therapy for autism who recently published a rigorously controlled study showing the benefit of occupational therapy over behavioral therapy for children with autism. In addition to providing clear benefit on a number of measures, the therapy is designed to be fun for children and is one of the interventions parents request most often. Thomas Jefferson University’s Occupational Therapy Program was rated in the top ten list by Advance Healthcare Network magazine this year.
