Newswise — CHICAGO, April 8, 2014 – To help primary care physicians treat chronic pain more safely and effectively, the American Pain Society will host “Pain Care for Primary Care,” in collaboration with the Journal of Family Practice. The three-day educational conference will be held in Orlando, July 17-19.
“Pain Care for Primary Care” will help primary care physicians, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants improve their understanding of pain and pain management and improve care for their patients with acute and chronic pain. The speakers are nationally known experts in pain care and pain research,” said APS President Roger Fillingim, PhD.
Primary care clinicians treat patients in pain every day, and the information to be presented at the conference will enable to acquire additional skills in treating patients who present with pain and pain-related symptoms. This meeting supports clinical and educational needs of clinicians in the primary care setting and selected specialties.
The Pain Care for Primary Care course will offer continuing education (CME/CNE) credit/contact hours for physicians, nurses and physician assistants. APS has designated the conference for 17 AAFP, AMA and ANCC PRA credits/contact hours.
