Newswise — New York, NY -- (May 9, 2014) – Wolters Kluwer Health is pleased to announce that Jeremy R. Chapman, MD, will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief for Transplantation, the official Journal of The Transplantation Society (TTS). The January 1, 2015, issue of Transplantation will be the first under the new editorial team. Prof Chapman is Clinical Director of Medicine and Cancer at Westmead Hospital, NSW, Australia. He currently serves as Editor of Transplantation Reviews and as a Regional Associate Editor for Transplantation and is a Past President of TTS.

The new appointment represents a change in Transplantation, replacing the team of Co-Editors who have directed the journal in recent years. Joining Prof Chapman will be Carla C. Baan, PhD, of Erasmus Medical Center in the role of Basic Sciences Editor; Jonathan S Bromberg, MD, PhD, of University of Maryland Medical School as Clinical Sciences Editor; and Stefan Tullius MD, PhD, of Harvard Medical School as Special Features Editor.

"The Transplantation Society has assembled a most outstanding group of Editors to continue in its mission of leading science and education for the international community," comments Francis L. Delmonico, MD, current President of TTS. "Transplantation is a must-have subscription to acquire the knowledge of scientific and clinical data, perspectives and information to be a successful professional in this field."

Prof Chapman and the new editorial team will assume responsibility for new submissions as of July 1, 2014. Manuscript submission, review, and tracking for the journal will also be substantially revised and streamlined using WKH's Editorial Manager system.

Transplantation is a global journal covering the most important advances in the field of transplantation, including cell therapy and islet transplantation, clinical and experimental transplantation, immunobiology, genomics, and xenotransplantation. Published 24 times a year, it is the most-cited journal in the field of transplantation. In addition to the print journal, subscribers and TTS members can digitally access each issue using both the journal website, www.transplantjournal.com; and the excellent Transplantation for the iPad app.

Prof Chapman looks forward to a redesign of Transplantation, to bring innovation to the content and the media used to present it. "The journal will be an essential read for everyone working in the field of transplantation each fortnight," he comments. "We have many more plans, which we will reveal as we move into 2015—so keep up with the journal to stay in touch."

Outgoing Co-Editor Manikkam Suthanthiran, MD, comments, "I have every confidence that the journal's integrity and objectivity will continue to flourish under the inspired leadership of Professor Chapman and his capable team." Co-Editor Kathryn J. Wood, PhD, adds, "We wish Professor Chapman and the new Editorial Team every success as they continue to develop Transplantation and further enhance its reputation as the most frequently cited journal in the field."
