Newswise — The top scholar in the Baldwin Wallace University Class of 2014, Cheryl Sebjenics, took the slow and steady path to graduation day, enrolling in just one class each semester—Fall, Spring, Summer—since the year 2000! The 58-year-old Sebjenics, a full-time technical recruiter, enrolled in a math course back in 2000 as "mental aerobics," and wound up earning a perfect 4.0 as she added one class each semester.
Sebjenics said she "loved every minute" of her 14-year journey to earning her degree, but found courses on weather, geography, conflict resolution and Orthodox Christianity especially fascinating. This May, she completed the requirements for a degree in business administration and human resources from BW.
Sebjenics is the first non-traditional (night/weekend) student to receive the Milton T. Baldwin Prize, given to the graduate with the highest academic achievement at BW, which is located in Berea,Ohio southwest of Cleveland.
What’s next? Sebjenics says she’s thinking about taking a graduate course, sometime in the next year or two.
