Two WIU Scientists Study Impact of Asian Carp

Jim Lamer and Sean Jenkins, faculty members in the Western Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences, have received continued funding in the amount of $30,000 from the U.S. Geological Survey for the project "Ecological studies on Asian carp to assess juvenile habitat use and occurrence in predator stomachs." The project duration is June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.

The purpose of this project is to conduct studies on Asian Carp including assessments of habitat selection and migration patterns, feeding behaviors and recruitment constraints in efforts to keep them from establishing populations in other ecosystems.
