Dr. Mark Hutchinson, director of sports medicine service and head physician for the University of Illinois at Chicago sports teams says that rules about returning to play have become more restrictive as knowledge about the long-term impact of concussion has grown.

"We need to protect the brain against both small and large concussive impacts, since the cumulative effects of these impacts over time can be serious," Hutchinson said.Hutchinson can speak on how the assessment of concussion has changed over the last 30 years and about the role of ImPACT testing to track recovery from concussion.
