Newswise — Denver, Colorado -- The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Foundation announced today a renewal of Zoetis’ support for clinical training of ACVIM residents.
Zoetis, a leader in animal health research and discovery, gave $10,000 to the ACVIM Foundation last year which funded ten small animal internal medicine residents to experience an external rotation from their residency program. These funds were used to cover travel, accommodations and living expenses while on the externship. Zoetis has agreed to renew this pledge in 2014 for ten new residents in any of the five ACVIM specialties.
“The ACVIM Foundation is committed to improving the health of animals and humans by funding discovery and education,” said Paige Heydon, Director of the ACVIM Foundation. “This ongoing strategic partnership with Zoetis provides funding so residents can gain invaluable experience in a clinical setting, preparing them for success in their future careers as veterinary specialists of ACVIM”.
The externship call for proposals was issued June 17th, 2014 and will close July 21, 2014. Externs will be awarded by August 15, 2014. The externship must take place within a calendar year of being issued, and therefore residents must have at least a year left of residency in order to be eligible to apply. Other regulations apply.
