Newswise — NORTHVILLE, Mich. — The University of Michigan Health System announced that its Northville Health Center, a newly built primary and specialty care facility at W. Seven Mile and Haggerty Roads, will open July 15, 2014. This announcement came during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended this week by nearly 60 local area health, business and community leaders, along with local media.

This state-of-the-art health center brings routine and complex specialty health care close to home for patients in this growing community of western Wayne County.

“The University of Michigan Health System is committed to meeting the needs of today’s patients, wherever they are and no matter how well or sick they may be,” says Michael M.E. Johns, M.D., interim executive vice president for medical affairs at the University of Michigan. “The care provided by U-M doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers is consistently ranked among the nation’s best.”

“This facility gives us a very visible way to bring excellent care to the people of Northville and surrounding areas in metropolitan Detroit,” he adds.

Patient appointments begin July 15 at the Northville Health Center, located at 39901 Traditions Drive in Northville Township. It’s close to the U-M’s existing Livonia Center for Specialty Care.

Services previously at U-M’s Livonia Health Center will move to the Northville Health Center next week. Following renovations this summer, the Livonia Health Center will re-open in the fall offering family medicine services.

The Northville Health Center has 100,000 square feet of clinical and diagnostic space for adults and children.

In addition to primary and specialty care, this center offers a comprehensive musculoskeletal program designed to care for bones, joints and muscles; eye care for adults and children; sub-specialty pediatrics, radiology services such as diagnostic imaging, bone ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging; infusion for cancer and non-cancer treatment; and a medical procedures unit used for colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, spinal injections and other procedures.

“I’m excited to be a part of this innovative care model coming to Northville,” says Audrey Fan, M.D., medical director of the Northville Health Center. “This new, considerably larger space brings together many of the essential services a patient may need for comprehensive health care. This top quality care is close to home and convenient for adults and children living in western Wayne County,” she adds.

The two-story facility has free parking, with services offered to patients six days a week.

University of Michigan has a 25-year lease agreement with REIS-Northville LLC, a joint venture between Schostak Bros. & Co. Inc. and REI Investment Group Inc., for this facility.

Local residents and interested patients are invited to attend the public open house Sunday, August 10 from noon-3 p.m.
