Newswise — For the third consecutive year, St. Louis College of Pharmacy joins an elite group of colleges and universities named to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s 2014 Great Colleges to Work For.

“This recognition is a wonderful validation of the care and commitment show by the College’s Board of Trustees and administration to our faculty, staff, and students,” says College President John A. Pieper, Pharm.D. “We are entering an exciting phase in the 150-year history of the College. The class of 2021 will soon join us to take full advantage of our innovative curriculum and a 213,000-square-foot academic and research building and library, which is currently rising on campus.”

The complete Great Colleges to Work For list was published today in The Chronicle’s seventh annual report on The Academic Workplace. The College was recognized for its fairness of compensation and the ability of its benefits to meet the needs of employees. Results are based on a survey of more than 43,500 employees at 278 institutions across the country. St. Louis College of Pharmacy was one of only 71 four-year and professional schools named to the list.

“The Chronicle is among the most respected publications serving higher education,” Pieper says. “To be included in such prestigious company is an honor.”

“The institutions that the Great Colleges program recognizes provide innovative educational experiences – while also offering their employees outstanding workplace experiences – and we are eager to help readers learn more about them,” says Liz McMillen, editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The College works diligently to recruit and retain the best faculty and staff in higher education. Compensation and benefits at the College are reviewed annually. They are also compared to other employers in the St. Louis area, statewide, and nationally in the public and private sector.
