The 68th Little League Baseball World Series begins today and continues through Aug. 24. GW experts are available to discuss the Series and related business, medical and social aspects of youth sports.

Lisa Delpy Neirotti, associate professor of sport management, is an expert in sports marketing. She can discuss the management of youth sports programs, the economic impact of youth sports and youth sports for social development – including education, health and conflict resolution. Dr. Delpy Neirotti is the director of GW’s Certified Youth Sport Administrator certificate program and led the 1986 National Children and Youth Fitness Study II.

Gerard Gioia, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and pediatrics, is an expert on pediatric neuropsychology. He can comment on youth sports concussions, including concussion recovery in children and development of effective methods to evaluate and treat youth concussions.

Mark Hyman, assistant teaching professor of management and tourism studies, is an expert in the business of youth sports. He can comment on the history of youth sports, sports parenting, concussions and the pursuit of college scholarships. Mr. Hyman wrote three books on the state of youth sports.

Evan Nadler, associate professor of surgery and pediatrics, is an expert in the treatment and prevention of child and adolescent obesity. He is also the co-director of the Obesity Institute at Children’s National Health System.

Amanda Visek, assistant professor of exercise science, is an expert on sports psychology and youth sports. She recently published a widely discussed study on the top factors contributing to fun in youth sports. Watch video of Dr. Visek discussing the study.

Ellen Zavian, adjunct assistant professor of sport management, was the first female attorney/agent in the NFL. She is an expert on athlete negotiations, leadership and entrepreneurship skills. Ms. Zavian can discuss the broad sports landscape, the state of collegiate athletics and gender issues in sports.
