Newswise — August 18, 2014 – Neptune, NJ – Jersey Shore University Medical Center will host a free men’s health breakfast, including health screenings and physician lectures, on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Initiated by Jersey Shore’s Community Advisory Committee – a volunteer advisory group – the men’s health breakfast is part of the Men’s Health Matters campaign, which educates and inspires men to take control of their health.
The program will feature lectures from Jersey Shore physicians who will discuss preventive health measures, as well as the latest advances and treatments in cardiology and prostate cancer. A host of free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, body mass index (BMI), stroke risk assessment and hearing will be available, along with educational displays.
Since 2011, the Men’s Health Matters program has enjoyed success in both the Manasquan and Asbury Park communities. Jersey Shore CAC Chairman Steve Bumbera comments, “The Community Advisory Committee at Jersey Shore is committed to making a difference in the communities served by the hospital. The breakfast events and screenings are steps towards helping local men live longer, healthier lives. The screenings and physician lectures encourage men to take a proactive, preventive health care approach, which can ultimately lead to improved health.”
