The terrors of trick or treating – should we be worried by tainted candy?

As Halloween approaches we all remember being spooked by the terrifying urban legend of strangers handing out poison or razor blade laced candies to unsuspecting trick or treaters. Joel Best, a Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware is the world’s leading authority on the subject of Halloween Sadism. He has been researching the contemporary urban legend for nearly 30 years and despite popular belief that our children are at risk from poisoned candy the chances are in fact very low.

Joel is an experienced media commentator and is available to comment on the perceived dangers we all fear at Halloween. UD has production facilities to accommodate both remote television and radio interviews.
