Newswise — CHARLESTON, S.C. (October 30, 2014) – In recognition of National Bladder Health Week, NAFC and Cinebarre Mt. Pleasant have teamed up to present “Lights, Camera, Take Action”: A Girls Night Out for Bladder and Pelvic Health. An event designed to encourage women to take charge of their bladder and pelvic health and celebrate the power of female connection. The evening features a distinguished panel of South Carolina Health Care Professionals who will discuss bladder and pelvic health challenges that frequently impact women including an overview of conditions as well as tips, tools, and treatment options. Drinks and appetizers will be served and the event will conclude with a showing of the feature film Mamma Mia!

Urinary Incontinence affects an estimated 18.3 million women in the United States. On average women wait 6.5 years from the first time they experience symptoms until they obtain a diagnosis for their bladder control problem. The National Association for Continence is sponsoring this local event during National Bladder Health Week as well as additional awareness raising activities and educational events throughout the month of November to encourage individuals to gain greater control over their bladder health through education and mobilization.

“We are delighted to combine a fun evening with a little education about bladder and pelvic health. Millions of adult women are challenged by these issues and don’t know where to either learn more or find the right solution. We could not be more pleased to be hosting this event in Charleston.” said Steven Gregg, PhD, Executive Director of The National Association for Continence.
