TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gunmen opened fire on the office of a satirical newspaper in Paris Wednesday, killing 12 people and wounding several more.

Florida State Assistant Professor Patrick Merle, a former reporter and public relations professional from France, is available to comment on the tragedy. He is fluent in both English and French.

Merle is an expert in the field of international public relations and journalism. Before entering academia, Merle worked as a media professional covering various political, economic, social, sporting and cultural events in multiple countries.

He covered both the Sept. 11 attacks in New York as well as the London subway bombings.

He is available to discuss a multitude of topics including the political and cultural divide in France as well as the publication that was the initial target of the attacks.
