Newswise — Chicago, Illinois—Registration is open for the 31st Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) scheduled for this March in the Washington, DC area. The goal of the meeting is to bring pain thought leaders together to discuss the nation’s astounding societal problem of chronic pain. With new initiatives such as the development of the National Pain Strategy, the extension of AAPM membership to key nonphysician providers, and the leadership of collaboration efforts among nine primary care organizations to focus on pain education, this is the most important Pain Medicine meeting of the year.

The AAPM Annual Meeting will engage pain specialists and all clinicians to improve the quality, safety and efficacy of pain medicine treatments and modalities across the healthcare continuum. Pre-program activities cover the tools and skills needed to treat patients in pain, while post-program activities empower pain champions to transform their own communities by improving the assessment, evaluation, clinical decision-making skills, and patient-centered communication strategies needed to deliver the right pain care at the right time in the appropriate practice setting.
