Newswise — Babson College Professor of Management Practice for Babson’s Executive Education, and Adjunct Lecturer of Entrepreneurship Elizabeth R. Thornton has authored The Objective Leader: How to Leverage the Power of Seeing Things as They Are , a framework for understanding how objectivity, the most critical management skill, can help leaders make smarter decisions and get better results.

Her action-based approach to re-wiring the subjectivity of the human mind is drawn from personal interviews with hundreds of professionals, as well as 30 years of corporate experience as a manager and entrepreneur.

“I have developed this curriculum to help people increase their objectivity in all aspects of their lives,” said Babson College Professor, Elizabeth R. Thornton. “Objectivity is seeing and accepting things as they are without projecting our mental models, our biases, fears, background, and experiences, but instead responding thoughtfully, deliberately, and effectively to the opportunities and challenges of our lives.”

Within The Objective Leader, Thornton shares how losing a million dollars was the best thing that ever happened to her, as it forced her to learn about how subjectivity, the inability to see things as they are, can have personal, organizational, national and global consequences.

According to the publisher, “Thornton offers a proven strategy to get out of your own way – and enjoy the fabulous results that come with clarity. By balancing in-depth research with real-life experience, The Objective Leader can help readers from all walks of life overcome bias and subjectivity to maximize their own success, and [become] an effective leader in today’s world.”

The book is available for sale on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Indiebound and Macmillan Publishers. For more info, visit http://bit.ly/17amYN0
