Newswise — The American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) is pleased to announce they have waived the registration fee for the Neuromodulation: An Evidence Based Update of the Field program. Combining the program with two free commercial supported symposia, the free SAFE Opioid Prescribing Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program and access to the AAPM Welcome Reception, AAPM is offering an entire day of free education for Annual Meeting attendees on Thursday, March 19, 2015.

This year’s meeting runs March 19-22, 2015 at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, with preconference sessions beginning on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Take advantage of AAPM’s free day of education on March 19, 2015 by registering at: www.painmed.org/annualmeeting.

The free preconference session Neuromodulation: An Evidence-Based Update of the Field focuses on the data and application of new advances in neurostimulation for the treatment of chronic pain and painful conditions.

The free commercially supported symposia will focus on Importance of Pharmacogenetics in Predicting Opioid Risk and When Seconds Count, Will Your Patients Be Ready? Starting the Conversation About Opioid Overdose.

The free REMS program entitled SAFE Opioid Prescribing is part of a multi-agency Federal effort to address the growing problem of prescription drug abuse and misuse. The REMS introduces new safety measures to reduce risks and improve safe use of ER/LA opioids while continuing to provide access to these medications for patients in pain. This program provides an overview of strategies, assessment and fundamentals of SAFE opioid prescribing.

The evening will end with a fun-filled night at the AAPM’s Annual Welcome Reception with an introduction to more than 120 posters on display.
