Stuart C. Ray, M.D., is a physician-researcher who treats patients with hepatitis C virus and other infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Outside of his clinical practice, he develops computer algorithms to understand how genetic changes in the hepatitis C virus determine its infectivity and how the virus evades the human immune system. Ray uses these algorithms to inform vaccine design.

Ray can comment on the treatments available for hepatitis C virus, their effectiveness and how they work. He can also elaborate on how the virus is able to evade the immune system and why it has been so tough to battle.

He is the director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program and a member of the Johns Hopkins Infectious Disease Center for Viral Hepatitis.
