Newswise — Apps, texts, status updates and profiles — we communicate, socialize and even date via our social media networks. But what are we missing while we wait for the next text or update? What do we miss out on if we’re always logged in?

The Family Institute’s upcoming Circle of Knowledge event, Dating Mating & Marrying in the Age of Social Media, addresses these questions and more. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30th.

At this event, Family Institute staff clinician and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy Program Alexandra H. Solomon, PhD, will discuss how our digital age has added enormous complexity to relational communication and romance. Dr. Solomon will help individuals and couples learn how to use social media to enhance and expand their love lives, not replace it.

The event will take place at Microsoft’s Chicago office, 200 E. Randolph Street, Chicago, IL. The event is free and open to the public, however advanced registration is required due to Microsoft security. To register in advance or for more information about this event, the Circle of Knowledge Event Series, or The Family Institute at Northwestern University, please contact Michelle Weil, Development Associate, at 312-609-5300 ext. 480 or email [email protected].
