Newswise — The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) House of Delegates elected new officers and board members during its annual business meeting on April 25 in Fort Worth, Texas. The following individuals were elected to the FSMB Board of Directors:

J. Daniel Gifford, MD, FACP, assumed the position of Chair of the FSMB Board of Directors. He has served on multiple FSMB committees and chaired the Governance Committee. Dr. Gifford just completed nine years of service on the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, where he served on various committees, including the Credentials and Physician Assistants committees.

Arthur Hengerer, MD, was elected FSMB Chair-elect. He has served on multiple FSMB committees and is also a member of the FSMB Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Hengerer is currently the Chair of the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct, which he has served as a member since 2002.

Ralph Loomis, MD, was elected FSMB Treasurer. He has served on various FSMB committees and as a member of the North Carolina Medical Board, including a term as board president.

Claudette Dalton, MD, was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Dr. Dalton has been active on multiple FSMB committees and as a member of the Virginia Board of Medicine, including a term as board president.

Jerry Landau, JD, was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Mr. Landau has served on several FSMB committees and has been an active member of the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery.

Gregory Snyder, MD, was re-elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Dr. Snyder has served on various FSMB committees and has been an active member of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, including a term as board president.

Stephen Heretick, JD, was re-elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors. Mr. Heretick has served on several FSMB committees and as President of the FSMB Foundation. He has been an active member of the Virginia Board of Medicine, including a term as board president.

Mark Eggen, MD, was elected to a one-year term on the Board of Directors. Dr. Eggen has served on several FSMB committees and has been an active member of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, including a term as board president.

Mark Bowden, MPA, Executive Director of the Iowa Board of Medicine, was elected to a two-year term as an Associate Member of the Board of Directors.

Additionally, the following individuals were elected to two-year terms on the FSMB Nominating Committee: Mohammed Arsiwala, MD, Michigan Board of Medicine; James Griffin, DO, Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline; and Kelli Johnson, MBA, Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
