Newswise — MONTREAL – Representatives of the news media are invited to a satellite-event news briefing at 11 a.m. on June 6, 2015 before the International Neuromodulation Society 12th World Congress in Montreal.

The news briefing, led by the president of the Canadian Neuromodulation Society, Michel Prud’Homme, MD, PhD, a neurosurgeon at CHU de Québec – Laval University, immediately precedes a free public lecture on neuromodulation therapies. This free public lecture is a local satellite event of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS) 12th World Congress, and has been organized by the Canadian Neuromodulation Society, an INS chapter.

Neuromodulation therapy is rapidly developing and aiding patients who have a number of chronic conditions. Among the conditions to be presented at the public lecture on June 6 are chronic pain, neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, and bladder motility disorders. These and other conditions will be discussed during preconferences and the scientific program of the International Neuromodulation Society 12th World Congress from June 6 – 11, 2015.

Immediately after the news briefing, the Canadian chapter’s free public lecture on Saturday, June 6, from 12 – 4:40 p.m. is open to patients, family members, interested members of the public, members of the news media, and professionals. It will feature experts and patients, with question-and-answer sessions moderated by journalist Bernard Derome.
