Highlights• The ASN Foundation for Kidney Research announced the 2015 recipients of research grants to advance new understandings of—and treatments for—kidney diseases.• Established in 2012 by the American Society of Nephrology, the ASN Foundation funds research that will help improve the health of the more than 20 million Americans burdened by kidney diseases, the 9th leading cause of death in the United States.

ASN and the ASN Foundation for Kidney Research provide more than $3 million in funding for clinical and basic research for members at all stages of their careers.

Washington, DC (July 1, 2015) — The ASN Foundation for Kidney Research has announced the 2015 recipients of research grants to improve understanding of kidney diseases and develop new treatment options. Among the research being funded are investigations into genetic underpinnings of kidney diseases, advances in the use of telemedicine, and novel educational methods to train the next generation of kidney health professionals.

Established in 2012, the ASN Foundation for Kidney Research funds the Career Development Grants Program, the Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship Program, the William and Sandra Bennett Clinical Scholars Program, and the American Society of Nephrology-Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program.

“The ASN Foundation for Kidney Research is committed to preventing and curing kidney disease by supporting talented kidney professionals and innovative research,” said Sharon M. Moe, MD, FASN, Chair of the ASN Foundation Board of Directors. “The Foundation is pleased to support 20 new projects this year to join a strong portfolio of work that is helping to positively advance patient care and outcomes for the millions of individuals affected by kidney disease.”

Career Development Grants Program The ASN Foundation’s Career Development Grants Program helps young investigators achieve independent research careers.
