Newswise — Consumers demand answers about their food and three food industry CEOs agree they need to find new ways to tell their story and educate their customers, according to a CEO Panel July 14 at IFT15: Where Science Feeds Innovation hosted by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) in Chicago.

David Cotton, CEO, Flying Food Group, James C. Borel, EVP, DuPont Pioneer and Eric Larson, chairman, managing partner and founder Linden Capital Partners, participated in a panel discussion moderated by Rick Insana, a journalist and contributor to Money Manager, CNBC and MSNBC. They each had their say on the connections between health and food, transparency and traceability, government regulations, labeling restrictions, skeptical millennials, GMO safety, gluten-free confusion to food allergies. But the conversation kept returning to how they, as well as their industry partners, could improve and engage in more effective conversations with their customers, especially in a world where consumers tend to rely more heavily on their peers for information rather than established entities like corporations or trade organizations.
