Newswise — The American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) will return to the PAINWeek conference for the third consecutive year to contribute its expertise in pain management to the agenda.

On Wednesday, September 9, the AAPM will present a 4-hour version of Essential Tools for Treating the Patient in Pain™ CME event which provides portions of the full Essentials™ course. This mini-course offers participants a chance to sample the outstanding content and speakers who take part in the full Essentials™ course typically offered during the AAPM’s annual meeting.

The Essentials™ program at PAINWeek will include the following sessions: Strategies for Success with Chronic Opioid Therapy Understanding and Treating Neuropathic Pain Anatomy of Ouch: The Pathophysiology of Pain The Science Behind Marijuana as an Analgesic

The Essential Tools for Treating the Patient in Pain™ is designed for clinicians and all healthcare practitioners interested in obtaining an overview of the fundamentals of pain medicine in addition to identifying best practices and practical approaches to the treatment of common pain disorders. Course faculty includes Farshad Ahadian, MD of the University of California-San Diego; Charles E. Argoff, MD, CPE of Albany Medical College; and Armando Villarreal, MD of the University of Rochester. These live activities have been designated for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
