Newswise — Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation hosted the 7th Annual Wine & Spirits Tasting fundraising event on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Addison Park in Aberdeen. This record-breaking event hosted by Fern and Peter Esposito featured more than 300 guests and raised nearly $70,000 in support of Bayshore’s growing cardiovascular program.

It was truly a special evening highlighted by guest speaker, Nila Luccarelli of Dearborn Market in Holmdel. Nila shared an extraordinary personal story about her recent sudden and unexpected cardiac event which resulted in a frantic rush to the hospital and life-saving treatment. “We are so lucky to have Bayshore in our backyard,” Nila shared. “It is a wonderful hospital and I will forever be grateful for everyone who works there.”

This year’s event, co-chaired once again by Fern and Peter Esposito, who have so generously dedicated their time to the event’s success since its inception, featured premium wines from around the globe, as well as international beers and spirits, an extensive array of hors d’oeuvres and a very special silent auction.

“The mission of Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation and events like the Wine & Spirits Tasting is clear: support the best cardiovascular care in our community,” says Joseph Stampe, president of Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations. “The continued support of our friends and neighbors helps to make the great care Nila received possible. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Part of the Meridian Cardiovascular Network, Bayshore is a qualified Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) hospital and is approved to provide primary angioplasty procedures to patients experiencing a heart attack, offering direct access to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the region’s leading provider of cardiac surgery. Additionally, team members and physicians have worked diligently to maintain a “door-to-balloon” time significantly better than the national average.

“When time is of the essence, a fast door-to-balloon time is often the differentiator when it comes to positive patient outcomes,” explains Timothy J. Hogan, regional hospital president for Monmouth County at Meridian Health. “Bayshore’s highly-trained team of health care providers developed a system we’re very proud of that transports patients into the cardiac catheterization lab for the required treatment at an especially efficient rate.”

The 7th Annual Wine & Spirits Tasting was supported by the Azzolina and Scaduto Families, Food Circus Foodtown and Spirits Unlimited who have kindly facilitated the donation of the evening’s beverages throughout the history of the event and Spirits Sponsors, Mary Ann Larkin and Carol Stillwell, K.
