Newswise — November is Nation Diabetes Awareness Month. According to the America Diabetes Association, nearly 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. And another 86 million Americans have prediabetes and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

Joshua Miller, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Stony Brook Medicine, is an endocrinologist treating adult patients with a wide array of endocrine conditions, including metabolic bone disease/osteoporosis, thyroid disorders, thyroid cancer, diabetes mellitus, diabetes in pregnancy, adrenal, and pituitary disorders. He is focused on improving care for people with diabetes on an individual and population level. Dr. Miller has an interest in type 1 diabetes, with expertise in insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring. His research focuses on improving quality of care for people living with diabetes as well as integration of technology in enhancing quality of life for patients with the disease. Dr. Miller is not only treating patients, he has been living with type 1 diabetes for over 16 years.
