Dr. Petrenko has been involved in research and clinical interventions with children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) and their families for over 10 years. Her research focuses on identifying the complex factors that contribute to the high rates of secondary conditions (e.g., mental health problems, school disruption, trouble with the law, substance use) in individuals with FASD and developing effective interventions to prevent or reduce the severity of these secondary conditions in this population. She also has expertise in the neuropsychological outcomes of children with FASD and co-directs one of the two specialty diagnostic clinics for FASD in the state of New York
