George Washington University faculty experts are available to discuss and provide insight on who they think will win awards this season, as well as their favorite films and music from the past year.

Leslie Jacobson is a professor of theater. She can comment on who she thinks will win Oscars in categories like “Best Picture,” “Best Actor in a Leading Role” and “Best Original Screenplay.” Ms. Jacobson is a director, playwright and educator who has produced several notable pieces, including her Helen Hayes Award-winning work “A…My Name is Alice.”

Douglas Boyce is a professor of music. He can comment on contemporary music and who he thinks will win Grammy Awards. Sigridur Johannesdottir is an assistant professor of costume design and technology. She can comment on costume design in this year’s Oscar-nominated films.

Carl Gudenius is a professor of theater. He can comment on scenic and lighting aspects of Oscar-nominated films. Recent work has included art direction and production design for ABC’s “Good Morning America,” C-SPAN, and PBS' “In Performance at the White House.”

Burlette Carter is a professor of law, and can comment on race and the Oscars. In 2011, Dr. Carter researched Hattie McDaniel’s, the first African-American to win an Oscar, missing Oscar. She did not find the missing Oscar, but found out some interesting things about Ms. McDaniel along the way. Ms. Carter concluded that the award was not thrown out or stolen, but likely lost.

Eugene Montague is an assistant professor of music. He can comment on popular music, especially punk rock.-GW-
