Newswise — Chicago, IL (February 8, 2016): HOPA is kicking off its newly developed Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) Recertification Program with the first in a series of five Emerging Issues in Oncology Webinars. On February 25, Updates from ASH will highlight significant research developments from the American Society of Hematology annual meeting. Selected abstracts will feature advances in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and stem cell transplantation.
Webinar speaker Dr. Steve Stricker, PharmD, BCOP, Associate Director of US Medical Affairs for Takeda Oncology, will help attendees:
• Summarize research findings of key abstracts pertinent to the field of hematology/oncology• Examine important breakthroughs in hematology expected to impact clinical practice• Identify select data presented as part of the scientific programming of interest to hematology/oncology pharmacists
HOPA will be providing 38 credits of education per year through a variety of delivery options. Each component will cover the domains, tasks, and knowledge statements as delineated by the BPS Specialty Council on Oncology Pharmacy and published in the Content Outline for the Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Certification Examination. The Updates in Oncology Webinars are a portion of the offerings to help pharmacists fulfill their BCOP recertification needs. The webinars will cover late-breaking topics and timely data impacting the entire spectrum of oncology pharmacy.
The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This webinar will be available for 1 CH of ACPE and BCOP credit.
